We are re-posting this notice with updates. Members please contact Anne at 705-741-3406 or tandemeyes@gmail.com by Friday June 17 if interested in participating in this fundraiser for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). We can then organize our tandem teams and prepare for the event.
Kevin and Anne have already registered and have created a TandemEyes team for our members to sign up under. This event provides us with a terrific opportunity to show our community support, have a social time with a BBQ, and to meet other cyclists. Here are the details with updates from the earlier post. When: Sunday, June 26 Where: Starting at Nicholls Oval Time: Registration is at 9:00 with the first ride leaving at 10:00 Registration Fee: $35.00 per tandem team (that's $17.50 per person). This is a reduced rate for our members because riding a tandem is an accommodation needed for people with vision loss to participate in this event. We would like to thank the CMHA for recognizing this. Anne will give you a special code when you are ready to register online. Thanks for considering this. It will be a fun event!
On Sunday June 26, the Canadian Mental Health Association is hosting its first Ride Don't Hide event in Peterborough. TandemEyes would like to have several teams take part in this day of fun and riding in Peterborough.
If you would like more information, please go to ridedonthide.com/on/ride/peterborough. If you are interested in participating, please let Anne know prior to signing up on the website so she can make sure we have enough captains for stokers. Starting Monday June 6, we will be meeting at the side of the SB building under the overhang. Because our bikes are large and we have more tandems in our groups this year, we are taking up too much space when we meet around the trees and cement wall in front of the SB. We need to allow room for the other riders and SB customers. Thanks for making this change!
HAND SIGNALS
Please remember that the stokers do the hand signals for turns, stops, etc. not the captains. Captains, please give your stokers notice of changes in speed and direction, so they can signal to other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Thanks! |
